Lamar man charged in child’s death
LAMAR, Mo. – Authorities arrest a Lamar man on charges of child abuse and endangerment of a child resulting in death.
On March 31, 2021, around 8:40 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call about a child not breathing. They got to E. 17th Street in Lamar and found a 16-month-old child who was not breaking at the time. Officers started life saving measures. An ambulance took the child to Cox Barton County Hospital where they pronounced the child as deceased.
The Lamar Police Department investigated and sent the case to the Barton County Prosecutor. The prosecutor’s office filed the following formal charges against 31-year-old Jeremy R. Vanmeter: First Degree Endangerment of a child resulting in death and Abuse or Neglect of a child resulting in death.
The prosecuting attorney’s office says due to statute, they will not release any documents that include additional information on an active case.
