Stephen Kyle Gardner, age 70, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Freeman West of Joplin.
Kyle was born November 24, 1951 in Alva, Oklahoma, son of the late Donald Bruce Gardner and Barbara E. (Newland) Gardner of Amarillo, Texas. He grew up in Texas and graduated from Amarillo High School before going to Ozark Christian College in Joplin to receive his bachelor’s degree. He then attended Lincoln College to earn his master’s degree in Divinity and Theology. He then attended Notre Dame working towards his doctorate. He was the Pastor with Blendville Christian Church in Joplin for 14 years, and was a Professor with Ozark Christian College for several years. He also lived in Wisconsin where he was the Pastor for the Jubilee Ministries in Niles, Michigan which helped with disabled children, He returned to Joplin in 2013 and was currently a member and pastor with Family Worship Center in Joplin. He was devoted to serving Jesus, and taking care of his family, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Marilyn S. (Wulf) Gardner; son, Joshua Gardner and Soojin Verburgt of Madison, Wisconsin, and Anastasia Beezley and Eric of Joplin; grandchildren, Claire Beezley, Stella Beezley, and Ebin Gardner; mother, Barbara Gardner of Amarillo; two brothers, Ron and Tom Gardner; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at the Family Worship Center with Pastor Daniel Wermuth, II. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
