The Kansas High School winter sports season will begin as scheduled, after a vote from the KSHSAA Board of Directors on Tuesday.

The Board voted 53-22 to allow the winter sports season, including basketball and wrestling, to begin on December 1st.

The board also voted to have a break in competition that stretches from December 23rd to January 7th. Competition will be allowed to resume on January 8th.

An earlier proposal would have delayed the start of competition until January 15th.

While the winter sports season will be allowed to begin on time, the KSHSAA Board of Directors has also voted not to allow fans at events until after January 28th.
