Joplin, Mo – A Joplin man has died in a motorcycle crash. It happened at the intersection of Route EF and Jaguar Road. Police say 51-year-old Rodney Meyers of Joplin was on th motorcycle when it collided with a pickup. Meyers later died at the hospital.
Ada, Ok – Authorities say one person was killed and an Ada Police Officer was wounded in a shooting. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says Ada Police tried to served undisclosed felony warrants at a home. The suspect was outside and open fired on the officers. One officer was hit as officers returned fire. The officers shot the suspect and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The wounded police officer was treated and released from the hospital.
Newton County, Mo – A shortage of Rural veterinarians that specialize in care for large animals impacts small clinics in southwest Missouri. According to the USDA, there’s a shortage all across the four-states. In Vernon County, the ration of vets to large animals is 206,000 to 1. According to the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges, it costs more than $200,000 to get an ADVM at the University of Missouri.
Parsons, Ks – Last year, Americans gave an estimated $427 billion to charity, but there was still a drop in charitable donations. When adjusted for inflation, total givings decline 1.7 percent. That decline is attributed to the impact of the tax law that went into effect last year, changing deductions.
