NEOSHO TEACHER KILLED

The Neosho School District confirms a teacher was killed after being struck by a car while on crosswalk duty at Benton Elementary. Authorities are not releasing the name of the teacher at this time. A news conference is planned for this morning. The Neosho School District says it has canceled classes at Benton Elementary for both today and tomorrow.

EXPANDING DRUG TREATMENT COURTS

Drug treatment courts could be expanded statewide if Governor Mike Parson gets his way. The governor wants lawmakers to talk about treatment courts at the upcoming special session. Jasper county has 100 people in several treatment courts dealing with substance abuse, mental health issues.

KAVANAUGH HEARINGS

This morning, Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh will return to capitol hill for day three of his confirmation hearing. Yesterday, Kavanaugh sat for more than 12 hours of questioning by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

HURRICANE FLORENCE

A major hurricane is now churning in the Atlantic. Florence was upgraded to a category 4 storm on Wednesday, when it was nearly 1,300 miles east of Bermuda. It’s expected to remain at hurricane strength as it approaches the island over the next few days.
