DELAWARE COUNTY PIPE BOMB

Residents share shock after a pipe bomb is found in their small community on Saturday afternoon. Around 5:30pm, the Delaware County Sheriff’s office responded to a call about a possible bomb at The Reserve at Grand Lake on Monkey Island. It was discovered after the home owner was cleaning out a vacated residence from a recently evicted tenant.

RESTAURANT CRASH

Charges have been requested against a person police say drove into a restaurant in Baxter Springs. Those charges include aggravated battery while driving under the influence, driving under the influence, and reckless driving. Police do have a suspect in custody in the Cherokee County Jail.

JOHN MCCAIN

The late Senator John McCain will be honored across the country this week. The Arizona Republican died Saturday at the age of 81. His body will lie in state in Phoenix on Wednesday and at the U.S. Capitol on Friday. McCain’s funeral will be held the next day at the national cathedral. He’ll then be buried at the U.S. Naval Academy Sunday.

JACKSONVILLE SHOOTING

Three people are dead, and 11 others hurt, after a shooting at a video game tournament in Florida. It happened Sunday at a waterfront mall in Jacksonville. Police identified the gunman as David Katz, of Baltimore, who was attending the event. They say the attack ended when the 24-year-old used his gun to kill himself.
