The U.S. Marshall service says the convicted murderer who escaped from a county jail in Oklahoma is back behind bars. 34-year old Patrick Walker was arrested in a Saint Louis motel a little after 11:00am Tuesday. Walker escaped from the Payne County Jail last Thursday when he impersonated another inmate who was being released on bond. He is serving a life sentence for the 2003 murder 19-yearold Brandon Harlan.
MEMORIAL EDUCATION CENTER
Part of Joplin’s Memorial Education Center will soon be undergoing a nearly $700-Thousand Dollar face lift to welcome some new students. Vacant classrooms will be renovated and converted for use by the Franklin Technology Center. The school will be moving three of their adult education programs to the 100-year old Memorial building.
PRESIDENT GEORGE H.W. BUSH FUNERAL
The funeral for former President George Herbert Walker Bush will be held today at Washington National Cathedral. All living U.S. presidents will be in attendance. Mister Bush’s body will then be flown home to Houston, Texas where he will be laid to rest. Thousands of Americans filed past his casket in the capitol’s rotunda where he lies in state.
NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING
Today is a national day of mourning, so there will be no USPS mail service and the stock markets will be closed. The DOW Jones Industrial Average ended yesterday down almost 800 points. Investors lost confidence in the U.S. China Trade deal after President Trump called himself a tariff man in a tweet.
President Trump’s former national security advisor, Michael Flynn may not have to serve any jail time for lying to the FBI because he’s shared so much information with prosecutors in the Russia investigation. Special Council Robert Mueller submitted the no-jail-time request last night. Prosecutors say they’ve interviewed Flynn 19 times but details of what he shared have been redacted because the matters are still under investigation.
