NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – If you’re driving in newton county, specifically along route a you’ll need to take an alternate route. MoDOT will be closing the bridge over South Indian Creek beginning today. The bridge will be closed from 8:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Thursday through February 14th. Route A will be open during the overnight hours. There will not be any detour signs posted, but route A will be closed between routes D and O.

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Since last September, Westar renewable energy customers who weren’t grandfathered in on previous rates, have been seeing an increase on their energy bills. The Kansas Corporation Commission and Westar Energy company approved a private generation customer rate in 2015, claiming the price mechanism was unfair to customers without renewable energy sources.

MIAMI, Okla. – Neo A&M College in Miami got involved with its first ever day of service and remembrance. Students had the chance to volunteer with several projects in town, including at the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa County. 15 students from the honors program spent time playing games with the kids, and helped them learn about things like first aid and bullying.

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma’s president spoke out at a news conference Monday on Martin Luther King day to condemn a racist video made by students. The video shows two O.U. students in black face using racial slurs. O.U. President Jim Gallogly said the students have since withdrawn from the university. The university is still looking into the involvement of a third person in that video.
