Katie Scott named WAC Player of the Week
The former Carl Junction standout now has five 20-point games at GCU.
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. – Former Carl Junction basketball standout Katie Scott continues to shine in her freshman season at Grand Canyon University in Arizona.
Scott has been named the WAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in the team’s two games against Eastern Washington and Houston Baptist.
“It means a lot to receive this honor so early on in my career,” Scott says, “Knowing that my hard work has paid off is so gratifying, but I ultimately want to use this as motivation to work even harder.”
The former Bulldog scored 20 points in just 22 minutes against Eastern Washington, going 8-11 from the field and pulling down 6 rebounds. She followed that up with a 15-point performance against Houston Baptist in just 11 minutes on the floor.
Scott’s success continued after she earned the honor on Monday. In GCU’s game against Arizona Christian Monday night, she posted a career-high 34 points and 13 rebounds, her 5th 20-point performance in just 8 games at GCU.
