Karon Sue Hawkins

Karon Sue Hawkins, 73, of Monett, MO, was called to her Heavenly home as promised by her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, August 2, 2022, while in the loving presence of her family.

Karon was born on September 26, 1948 in Monett, daughter of the late Jake and Ester (Powell) Johnson. She graduated from Monett High School with the Class of 1966. During her life, Karon was a very giving person of her time. She volunteered for many years as Treasurer for the Boy Scouts Troop #38 and later was involved with Dining for Diabetes.

Karon had worked as a Lab Technician for Cox Monett Hospital for over thirty-nine years, retiring on her birthday in 2017. To Karon, her career was not just a job. She developed lifelong friendships and truly cared for her patients. She was a lifetime active member of New Site Baptist Church, always desiring to walk the narrow path and follow God’s plan to salvation. In her free time, Karon loved spending time with her family and friends while camping and fishing at Table Rock Lake, especially at Big M.

On December 23, 1966, at New Site Baptist Church, Karon married Joe Hawkins. To this union, they were blessed with three children.

Karon is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Joe, of the home; two sons, Brad Hawkins and wife Deeanna, of Monett and Terry Hawkins and wife Jennifer, of Purdy; one daughter, Rachel Aldridge and husband Benny, of Purdy; eight grandchildren, Cameren (Grant) Lay, Jonathan (Ashley) Hawkins, Justin (Jessica) Aldridge, Chris (Paige) Aldridge, Scott Aldridge, Kaylee (Joel) Adams, Brennan Hawkins and Sophee Hawkins; eight great-grandchildren; close cousin, Donald Wormington; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Karon was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Charles Grooms.

Visitation for Mrs. Karon Hawkins will be held at New Site Baptist Church from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Funeral services will be at New Site Baptist Church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Weibel, Pastor Rocky Harris and Pastor John Henry officiating. The family will hold a private interment. In memory of Karon, memorial contributions have been suggested to New Site Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
