Kansas lawmaker will resign to fight brain tumor
Greg Lewis' resignation take effect Friday
TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas State Rep. Greg Lewis says he will resign to concentrate on his battle with a cancerous brain tumor.
Lewis, a Republican from St. John, said Monday on the Kansas House floor it is becoming apparent to him that he can’t represent his district to the level his constituents deserve.
His resignation will be effective Friday.
In a news release, Lewis said he first noticed problems with his vision and experienced lightheadedness on Christmas day.
Lewis said an MRI revealed a mass on the right side of his brain, that turned out to be a glioblastoma, high grade level IV, which is a cancerous brain tumor.
