Kansas Dem. Governor and a top Rep. legislator team up to expand Medicaid

Statehouse news conference scheduled Thursday morning to announce bipartisan plan

TOPEKA, Kan. – Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Republican Senate Majority Leader Jim Denning are prepare to unveil a bipartisan plan to expand medicaid in the state.

The two leaders have been working for weeks toward a compromise on extending coverage to as many a 150-thousand people. Governor Kelly has advocated for a straightforward expansion of the state’s $3.8-billion dollar a year medicaid program.

The legislature will open its annual session on Monday, January 13, 2020.
