Junior college athletes face tough choices after canceled spring season
The NJCAA is not taking a year of eligibility away after canceling the 2020 spring season.
The NJCAA announced the cancellation of the 2020 spring sports season on Monday.
The NJCAA will not take a year of eligibility away from spring athletes because of the decision, meaning some of the student-athletes will be able to come back next year.
Some student-athletes are on track to graduate, and have signed to play for four-year schools next year. Those players will be leaving.
If they do come back, they will still have to enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester. However, because they’re already on track to graduate this May, most of those classes aren’t necessary graduate from their current schools.
