JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin High School quarterback Blake Tash announced his commitment to Evangel football Monday afternoon.

Tash made the announcement via Twitter.

“The thing that set Evangel apart was the fact that I felt like I was at home the second I got there,” Tash says, “I’m extremely excited and blessed to be able to continue my football career at the next level. I’m looking forward to working hard and proving myself at the next level and becoming part of the Evangel family.”

Tash is the most accurate passer in Missouri and national high school history, completing 74.6% of his passes in three years as Joplin’s starting quarterback.

Last season, he threw for 2,787 yards and 32 touchdowns, leading the Eagles to a state runner-up finish in the Missouri Class 6 playoffs.

“I believe playing with my Joplin High School teammates and coaches that I had made me the QB I am today,” Tash adds, “I couldn’t have done this without those guys.”

Despite being the most accurate quarterback in national high school history, Tash only had a few offers from NAIA or NJCAA schools coming out of high school. In the end, Tash is content with where the recruitment process led him.

“I was frustrated with the recruitment process early on,” he says, “but I knew that God had a plan for me and he put me exactly where He knows I should be. I want to compete and be successful not for my personal benefit, but for the program. I want to work hard and help build on the culture they have there.”
