Joplin to host public discussion regarding new Solid Waste Master Plan

JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin invites residents to voice their opinions regarding the development of the city’s new Solid Waste Master Plan.

The city will host a discussion on April 6 at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm at Joplin City Hall; the main points of discussion being trash, recycling, and yard waste services in Joplin.

Joplin officials say meetings purpose is to:

  • optimize existing solid waste systems and facilities
  • evaluate potential additional or improved service offerings
  • develop measurable goals for diversion in accordance with Missouri Solid Waste Management Law

According to the city, the new Solid Waste Master Plan will:

  • establish priorities and an implementation plan to achieve diversion goals
  • improve customer satisfaction with solid waste services provided
  • plan for necessary infrastructure for the next 20 years
