Joplin Public Library unveils new strategic plan

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Public Library has unveiled its new strategic plan, which runs through 2025. The strategic plan helps the library identify where it’ll direct its energy and resources over the next few years.

In this case, it’s streamlining internal processes, better connecting with businesses and being more welcoming for new cardholders.

“Instead of just registering them for a card and saying welcome to the library, we’re going to take that a step further,” said Joplin Public Library director Jeana Gockley . “We are planning to follow up with them by telephone or email afterwards. Staff are really going to welcome them and find out why they came in to get a card, and what we could help them with. ”

Through the strategic plan the library drafted a new mission statement : “our library opens tomorrow’s doors today through diverse opportunities to learn, create, explore, and have fun”.
