Fatal crash near Grand Falls, Joplin Police Major Crash Team investigate

Three occupants of the vehicle, one died at the scene Joplin Police state.

JOPLIN, Mo. — Just after 2 a.m. early Saturday morning reports of an overturned vehicle to the west of Grand Falls on Riverside Drive alerted Joplin E911.

Joplin Police, Joplin Fire, Redings Mill Fire, Newton County Ambulance and METS ambulance responded.

On scene we learn two people were transported to area hospitals.

“Two occupants were rushed to a local hospital with one occupant being listed in serious condition and the other in stable condition with moderate injuries.  A third occupant was determined to be deceased at the scene of the crash,” Joplin Police state in a release of information.

Newton County Deputy Coroner Jerry Deems arrived to claim body about 3:30 a.m.

The roadway was closed to all traffic. Crash investigators began to arrive about 3 a.m.
