Joplin officials discuss property levy tax
JOPLIN, Mo. – The City of Joplin held a public meeting to discuss a property levy tax in the city.
As a result, the council approved an ordinance that includes a tax levy on the Joplin Public Library.
” Property tax has been authorized by the voters already. This is not a new tax,” said Leslie Hase of the Joplin City Government. “Cities and school districts have to reset their property tax levy every year using this calculation by the state auditor’s office.”
Joplin says the city property tax represents a very small portion of the overall property tax liability for the residents of Joplin.
