Joplin man sentenced for child molestation

Jerry D. Harris, Jr., 50, is sentenced today for child molestation.

On August 14th, 2017, the Joplin Police Department and Jasper County Children’s Division began an investigation into the incident, which happened on August 6th, 2017.

Authorities say Harris, Jr. molested a female juvenile less than 14-years-old. The Prosecutor’s Office filed a charge against him for 1st Degree Child Molestation (Class A Felony).

In January 2019, Harris took a plea deal. His charge was changed to a Class B Felony of Child Molestation in the Second Degree.

On April 8th, a judge sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
