Joplin man charged with child abuse takes plea deal
JOPLIN, Mo. — David Gordon enters a plea deal and will be sentenced for Domestic Assault 2nd Degree (Class D Felony).
On October 7th, 2017, patrol officers responded to Mercy Hospital about an abused child. It was determined that the victim, a six-week-old boy, had a broken bone in the lower part of his left leg. Doctors diagnosed it as a pressure break that had been caused by physical abuse.
Investigators say the injury happened while the child was in care and custody of David Gordon.
Prosecutors originally charged him with child abuse.
The courts have scheduled a sentencing date for August 26th, 2019.
