Joplin man arrested; charged in Carthage home robbery

NEWS RELEASE FROM THE CARTHAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT

At 12:53 AM, on 5/11/2014, Carthage Police Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Kimberly Ln. in reference to an assault at a residence. Investigation determined that a 33 year old male victim had been assaulted and his property stolen after he was rendered unconscious. The victim suffered lacerations to the face. The suspect fled the area on foot and was later located by officers. He assaulted a Law Enforcement Officer by spitting on and trying to bite the officer.

Zaveon Thomas, 20 year old Joplin resident, was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Robbery and 3rd Degree Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer. The Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office filed the charges and bond was set at $20,000 for the charge of 2nd Degree Robbery and $5,000 for the charge of 3rd Degree Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer. He is being held at the Jasper County Jail.
