Joplin hosts 2nd annual Four States 7-on-7 football tournament

High school football season is a little over 2 months away, but some local teams got on the field for a little competition as the Joplin Eagles hosted the 2nd annual Four States 7-on-7 tournament.

12 teams participated. The teams played 20-minute games with 5 pool play games guaranteed. After pool play it was single elimination bracket play with a champion at the end.

Joplin head coach Curtis Jasper says it’s the nice facilities at Joplin High School that allows them to host this tournament.

“You know the teams that came last year coming back we added some more. They like the format. We don’t get it too big to where they’re having to travel all over the place. Everything is played right here on the soccer and football fields, so you’re just traveling back and forth. And you know you’re going to be on a good surface here with the turf on both sides. So they really enjoy that and they enjoy the competitiveness. We have some really good teams here,” adds Jasper.

Glendale won the 2nd annual Four States 7-on-7 tournament over Mt. Vernon, 20-14.
