Joplin Fire Department looking to fill vacant positions

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Joplin Fire Department is looking to fill positions within the department by offering paid training to those who come on board.

The department is facing staffing issues and is welcoming lateral transfers, new firefighters and even volunteer firefighters. JFD is offering to pay firefighters as they go through training. Tonight on KOAM News, we’ll hear from the department’s training chief about the staffing issues the department is facing and we’ll hear from a current firefighter on why they chose Joplin and how staffing shortages impact their job.
