Joplin Fire Department contains structure fire at the Olivia Hotel

JOPLIN, Mo – The Joplin Fire Department responds to a hotel fire a little after 9:30 last night.

The fire was at the Olivia Apartment’s and was mostly contained to the top floor of the building.

The JFD got the flames under control a little after midnight.

The building was unoccupied and officials say there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Olivia Apartments were named one of Missouri’s 2020 Places in Peril by the Missouri Alliance for Historic Peril a week prior.

Plans were in place to restore the hotel, turning it into senior housing
