Joplin crash claims the life of a Quapaw resident
Authorities believe she suffered a medical emergency while driving
JOPLIN, Mo. – A two-vehicle crash in Joplin claims the life of a 48-year-old Quapaw resident.
The crash happened on Friday, April 22, 2022. Joplin Police Officers responded to a vehicle crash near 35th Street and South Main Street.
Authorities say EMS took the driver of the van, Arajuana A. Hart-Hundson, 48 of Quapaw, Oklahoma, to Mercy Hospital. She did not survive her injuries. The Joplin Police Department states in a release they believe she suffered a medical emergency while driving.
According to the JPD, the initial investigation showed that a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was traveling southbound on Main Street in the outside lane.
The van sideswiped a 2006 Ford Mustang that was heading south in the inside lane. The van then veered off the right side of the road. It then hit a curb, sign and guard rail. The van traveled down an embankment.
There were no injuries to the driver or passenger of the other vehicle involved.
