A big night for the city, as they see two new members become part of the team. We’ll delve into both of those new members, starting with the newly elected councilman, Keenan Cortez.

For council, it took two tie votes as former councilman and mayor Mike Seibert was also on the list, but following the second vote, Seibert decided to remove his name, and council unanimously voted in Cortez. Cortez has served the city in a number of volunteering positions and also works Crothall companies as an Operations Manager – Crothall is the housekeeping provider for Freeman Health Systems.

Keenan Cortez says “I’ve been a long time volunteer with the city, some fifteen years now, seemed like the natural progression to move on up the ladder, and be able to affect the city the best way that I possibly can with the experience that I have with all the volunteerism that I’ve done.”

A closed session was held immediately following the council meeting to make the appointment official.
