JOPLIN, Mo. – The Joplin Christmas parade is nearing and the judges, parking and alternate routes are announced.

This year’s theme is Cruisin’ to Christmas. Watch more than 85 entries roll down Main Street on Tuesday, December 7.

At 6:00 pm, a color guard will lead the parade starting at Main Street and 15th. The parade will end at 3rd Street.

Joplin Christmas Parade Judges

Freeman Health System is the host for this year’s parade. Staff are working with volunteers to be posted along the parade route. They’ll be wearing orange vests.

You can find the final lineup for the parade starting Monday on the Freeman Facebook page.

Judges for this year’s parade are Paula F. Baker, Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer; Joplin Mayor Ryan Stanley; Dr. John Cox, Freeman Cardiologist; Dr. Ryan Longnecker, Freeman Cardiologist; and Dr. Laura Rosch, Kansas City University-Joplin Campus Dean. The judge’s stand will be positioned at 8th and Main Street.

Food Trucks

Want to grab a bite for the parade? Two food truck vendors will be selling treats to parade attendees: Hershey’s Mobile Ice Cream Parlor, featuring hot chocolate floats, and Churros Colima will both be located at 6th and Main Street.

Parade Funds

Freeman Health System says the funds raised by this year’s parade will go to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. They provide help to children from birth to 21 years of age in a 14-county area in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.

The money raised stays local, helping children with medical needs and their families.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals helps furnish and maintain the Freeman Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. CMN also provides funding for local community organizations’ pediatric needs and provides pediatric emergency equipment for area agencies.
