Joplin business owner charged for illegal gambling operation

On December 10, 2020, two Joplin Police detectives entered the Chill House at 501 W. 7th. According to court documents, they saw several slot machines being operated. The detectives played several machines and confirmed they took money and paid cash for winnings.
They got a search warrant and served it on December 17, 2020. During the search warrant, 23 slot machines were seen in operation and seized. Several people were there actively gambling on the machines.
Court documents state that a charge of 1st Degree Promoting Gambling was filed against the owner, Dinesh K. Sood, on Dec. 22, 2020. Authorities did not arrest him during the raid, but court documents show a mailed criminal summons was returned undeliverable.
Sood’s home address is listed as a Rogers, Arkansas location. The Chill House sold items including CBD and Kratom.
