Joplin looks for suspect in 22 arson fires

The Joplin Fire Department, along with the Joplin Police Department, look for assistance to locate a suspected arsonist.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Authorities in Joplin search for a suspected arsonist responsible for 22 arson cases.

The Joplin Fire Department released a map on social media. It shows 22 incidents since July they identified as suspected arson fires.

“If you live in, or visit this area regularly, and have knowledge of suspicious activity (within the midnight hours over the past two months in this area) we ask that you give us a call,” stated the Joplin Fire Department on Facebook.

You can contact Sgt. Dodson of the Joplin Police Department at 417-623-3131 extension 1638. You can also call Fire Marshal Dale Brooks at 417-624-0820 extension 1307. Their hours are Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Authorities ask that you do not share information in the comments section of their Facebook post on this matter. “As always, if you experience a fire or emergency in your neighborhood, call 911 immediately. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.”
