Joplin art contest

Students in Joplin were honored Monday afternoon for their community pride. An assembly was held to announce the winners of a recent contest.

First and second graders were asked to draw pictures and students in third-through-eighth grades were asked to compose essays on the following topic “What I see for Joplin’s future in the year 2034”.

600 entries were submitted.

One student in each category from each school won the “Best in School” award.

First through third paces in each category were awarded as well.
