Joplin advances to state championship game

The Eagles beat Ft. Zumwalt West Saturday

The Joplin Eagles are still undefeated, and they’re heading to the state championship game.

The Eagles beat Ft. Zumwalt West 41-20 on Saturday afternoon in the Class 6 state semifinals, to get to 13-0 on the season and clinch a spot in next weekend’s Class 6 title game.

Running back Isaiah Davis finished with 175 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns on Saturday. He is now over 2,000 rushing yards on the year.

Senior QB Blake Tash threw for 200+ yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Zach Westmoreland topped 100 receiving yards for the 4th straight game and 7th time this season.

Joplin now moves on to face DeSmet (13-0) in the state championship. Those two teams will meet at 3 PM on Saturday in Columbia, Mo.
