RIVERTON, KANSAS: Jim Louis Haines, age 75, passed away at 4:20 am, September 22, 2020 at his home following an illness.

Jim was born September 22, 1945 at Lafe, Arkansas. His parents were Lenis and Norma (Langston) Haynes. He moved to Galena in 1978 from Ozark, Arkansas. He attended two years of college after graduating from Holland (MO) High School. He retired as a Sales Manager for Roper Auto Group, Joplin, Missouri. He had previously driven a truck for a number of years, operating under the handle “Interstate Indian”. He had once worked as a patrolman for the City of Galena. Jim had been a volunteer EMT for the Cherokee County Ambulance Association and had served on the Galena Police Reserves. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had spent several summers as a girl’s softball coach.

Jim was married to Cheryl Ann Dickey on October 19, 1968 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives.
Additional survivors include five daughters, Diana Haynes, Arma, Kelly Miner (Joe), Sparks, NV, Michelle Tippie, (Mike) Riverton, Janet Haynes (Kelly Ward), Galena, and Jamie Shelton (Kenny), Galena,; one step-brother, Larry Cherry, Fresno, CA; one half-sister, Kay Cottrell, Arma,; Step-Siblings Tom, Larry and Judy Cherry, California and 12 grandchildren,
Joshua Miner, Joseph Miner, Taylor Blevins (Dominic), Trevor Tackett, Ezra Tippie, Andrea Spivey (Jarod), Jeffrey Friant, Billy Friant, Kenny Ray Honeywell (Valerie), Abby Shelton, J.C. Shelton, and Weston Ward; and 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his step-mother Nathalee Haynes, Sister Judy Post, Brother Dale “Butch” Nobles, Brother Bobby Haynes and Step-Sibling Daniel Cherry.

Jim was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
