Jerry L. Getman, 67, of Oswego, passed away at 6:05 a.m., Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Columbus.

Jerry Lee Getman was born on March 13, 1953, to James Louis and Sara Frances (Miller) Getman in McCune, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in McCune, graduating from McCune High School in 1971.

A lifelong farmer, Jerry also worked at a fencing company, Sugar Creek Packing Company in Pittsburg and SAPA. In 2008, he retired from SAPA, but continued farming.

He was a member of Foursquare Church. He had his own pecan grove, which he still harvested. He also enjoyed fishing, playing softball and cookouts.

On November 5, 1984, he and Jeanine S. Lawrence were united in marriage in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives of the home.

Peggy Mercer of Oswego, Kansas

Linda Odom of Tennessee

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy Barrett.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2020, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Burial will follow at Edgmand Cemetery near Columbus. The family will receive friends 6 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
