CARTHAGE, Mo – Polling areas across the 4-States are preparing for the 2022 Primary elections on August 2nd.

One of the most important aspects of the whole process is making sure the ballot machines work properly ahead of time.

“The whole thing is to make sure that when the machines read it, it reads it correctly,” Said a Jasper County Poll Worker. “At the end of election night, when you do the reporting, we can be reassured that the election results are accurate.”

In addition, the county announced its newest machine that is compatible with:

  • Visually impaired individuals
  • Blind Individuals
  • People who can’t use their arms or legs

One exercise the poll workers do is feed nearly 1000 ballots through the machines, all while knowing the end result. If the ballots differ from the set number, officials know the machine is not functioning properly.
