Janice Lee (Sears) Kirby age 79 of McCune, Kansas passed to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 25th, 2021.
She was born in Parsons, KS to Victor H. and Zelma (Campmier) Sears on November
22, 1942. She lived for many years in McCune Kansas with her father and her mother Clara. She graduated from McCune Rural High School in 1960 where she met the love of her life Gerald (Jerry) Kirby. They were married on December 18th, 1960, in Sherman, KS.
Janice and Jerry have been soulmates since their meeting in junior high and last year celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Throughout her life she worked various jobs but finished her career at Greenbush Service Center. She was a 4H leader, a member of the United Chapel congregation and enjoyed her activities in the Prairie Gardeners Club. Her greatest passion was
taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren, and dog Peanut.
Survivors include her son Wade Kirby and wife Darci of McCune, KS. Her daughters Mishelle Kmiec and her husband Ken of Girard, KS, Gina Carlton and husband Charlie of Pittsburg, KS, and Nicole Kirby and her husband Steve of Olathe, KS. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren . She is survived by her brothers Joe Sears and wife Charlette of Lawton, OK, Howard Sears and wife Karen of Lawrence, KS, brothers in laws Jim Kirby and wife Geraldine of McCune, and Randy Kirby and wife Kathy of Brookline, MO. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy, and her grandson Geramie Wade Kirby.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastors Gaylord DeMoure and Harold Groth officiating. Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the McCune Alumni Association or the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
