James Owen Riley

James Owen “Jim” Riley of Miami, Oklahoma passed from this life Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He was 85.
Jim was born August 17, 1935 in rural Welch, Oklahoma to Cleo and Beatrice (Cook) Riley. He had lived in Ottawa County most of his life and he was a 1953 graduate of Afton High School.
Jim owned and operated Riley Brothers Farms in Miami and was a salesman for Pioneer Seed Company for many years and he was also a real estate agent.
Jim was a member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Miami, Miami Lodge No. 140 A.F.&A.M., Tulsa Scottish Rite Consistory, Akdar Shrine Temple in Tulsa, Grand Lake Shrine Club in Miami and Miami Elks Lodge No. 1320.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Sue Riley on June 6, 2016, his parents and 2 brothers, Bobby Joe Riley and Larry Leon Riley.
Jim is survived by 3 sons, Greg Riley, Mark Riley and his wife Darcy and Brad Riley and his wife Dana all of Miami, Oklahoma, 1 daughter, Susan Riley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday October 20, 2020 at First Christian Church in Miami, Oklahoma with The Rev. Deacon Kay Boman-Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Williams’ Timberhill Cemetery west of Miami. Aaron Riley, Will Riley, Jack Hylton, Gary Riley, Danny Riley, Bruce Riley, Phil Riley and Charles Riley will serve as pallbearers. Friends and family may sign the register book and pay their respects from 9 a.m.-5p.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Oklahoma. The family requests those attending the services to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Memorials are suggested to All Saints’ Episcopal Church or Grand Lake Shrine Club Transportation Fund.
