Involuntary manslaughter charge after fatal crash
44-year-old Ryan O'Neal faces the charge in Jasper County
JOPLIN, Mo. – A Liberal, Missouri man is charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter after a fatal crash in February. The Missouri Highway Patrol said 44-year-old Ryan O’Neal was going southbound in a pickup on Highway 43, two miles north of Joplin. O’Neal crashed head-on into an SUV driven by 23-year-old Sevie Davison of Oronogo. Davison was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital.
Law enforcement says several witnesses described O’Neal driving recklessly at the time of the crash. “Due to the nature of the statements I received from many witnesses describing how reckless Mr. O’Neal was driving, I informed Mr. O’Neal…he was under arrest for Involuntary Manslaughter,” wrote a responding Highway Patrol trooper.
In addition to the involuntary manslaughter charge, O’Neal faces a $50,000 cash bond once he’s arrested. A Jasper County judge also ordered he can’t operate a motor vehicle on public roadways.
