Individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 attended Parsons peaceful protest Saturday

The Labette County Health Department says an individual who recently tested positive for COVID-19 attended the protest in Parsons Saturday.

According to the Labette County Health Department, one of the four individuals who recently tested positive for COVID-19 attended the peaceful protest in Parsons on Saturday.

Here’s the post from the Labette County Health Department on Facebook:

“Update: One of the recent positive COVID-19 individuals (who is not symptomatic) attended the Parsons Peaceful BLM protest on Saturday, June 6th which had approximately 800 in attendance. The risk of exposure to others from this individual is minimal due to the event being held outdoors and the individual was wearing a mask.
People who attended the protest on Saturday are recommended to contact their primary healthcare provider IF they develop any symptoms within 14 days from the date of the event.”

The Labette County Health Department confirmed on Monday four new positive cases, bringing the total in the county to 26.

The new cases are an 82-year-old man, a 50-year-old, a 16-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl.

The Health Department says everyone is cooperating with staff and is isolated at home.

They are also conducting a case investigation to inform anyone who may have come in contact with the individuals.
