Independence police release name of victim in crash
INDEPENDENCE, Kan. – Police give more information about a fatal crash that happened a few weeks ago in Independence, Kansas.
On October 8, 2021, officers responded to Park and Main for an injury accident. It involved an SUV and a hatchback car. According to the Independence Police Department, the passenger in the hatchback, 73-year-old Martha Hargis, died the next day due to complications from her injuries.
The Police Department released her name today.
After an investigation, authorities believe that the SUV was traveling south on Park Boulevard. It stopped for the stop sign, then failed to yield to the hatchback as it traveled east on Main.
