Improvements on the Drought Tracker

Drought concerns outside the region, though

Thanks to rain that we saw on Sunday and Monday last week, that led to further improvements on the Drought Tracker. Our part of southeast Kansas has seen the little area of drought shrink down while the rest of the area remains in good shape. It is worth noting that moderate drought conditions pick up across northern Kansas and worsen to an extreme drought out in western Kansas. For Oklahoma, we note that western parts of the state are also have moderate to extreme drought as we head into the week. We’ll see if the additional storm systems on the way by Thursday and the weekend can improve things for these areas that need the moisture.
