Duenweg’s Volunteer Fire Department gets a money boost from fire wives willing to scoop out bowls of spaghetti and chili.

People packed the Duenweg Fire Department for its 33 rd annual all you can eat Chili Supper.

Proceeds from the $5 meal charge will go toward the Fire Department’s general fund.

Being a small city, with 28 firefighters covering 25 square miles the fire chief says every little bit counts.

“It’s real important. It gets the people out to see what we do, you know with their tax money through the year and all that. Plus it’s just a good PR, keeps good relations with the neighborhood,” says Duenweg Fire Chief Allyn Reding.

“We come every year for about the last 15 or 16 years. Well of course the good food is always a plus and the fellowship and the comradery. You come out here and see everybody and you’re donating to the fire department which is a good cause,” says Duenweg resident Justin Bardin.

Some people came from out of state to support the cause.

Also a number of groups gathered for birthday celebrations and family reunions to celebrate at the supper.
