A Jasper County couple is without a home after a fire Sunday afternoon.
The home on County road 220 or D highway, north of Oronogo is in ashes. Fire struck around 4 pm Sunday. Tri Cities fire crews along with firefighters from Oronogo and Carterville put out the fire in just 20 minutes but the damage was done. Assistant chief Jerry Welch says the fire appears to be electrical in nature starting on a rear porch and then spreading inside the home. No one was home at the time. The husband and wife will be getting some assistance from the red cross.
