High School Rodeo Competition in Oswego for the first time

Labette County Fairgrounds hosted a state-wide high school rodeo competition for the first time.
Some of the events included bull riding, calf roping , and pole bending. The fairgrounds use to serve as an athlete field for the local high school.
Oswego’s Rodeo Club took over the land and made permanent renovations. Organizers say the 40 acres was filled with athletes and trailers from across the state.
“We built this area and started on it a little over a year ago and just got it complete here in just about 6- 8 weeks ago before our regular rodeo. So it’s been a long time coming we actually been waiting on this spot for about 10 years to build this,” said Rodeo Chairman Rick Mckinzie.
Top finisher walked away with cash prizes.
