Granby man killed in Thursday crash near Diamond, Mo.

One man is dead and other is in serious condition after two vehicles nearly struck head on south of Diamond, Missouri on Wednesday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says they were called to a crash at about 6:17 p.m. on Highway 59 and Elder Road just south of Diamond, Missouri on Wednesday.

William Littlechild, 66 of Carthage, had a medical issue which caused him to cross the center line and strike a second vehicle nearly head on.

The second vehicle was driven by Ronald R. McDermott, 81 of Granby, who was killed in the crash.

Littlechild was taken to a Joplin hospital with injuries and at last report was listed in serious condition. A passenger in his vehicle, Helen Littlechild, 70 of Carthage, was also taken to a Joplin hospital with moderate injuries.

According to MSHP, McDermott was not wearing his seatbelt; and, the Littlechild’s were wearing their seatbelt.
