Gorillas Roll Into MIAA Tournament Semifinals, 74-55

The Pittsburg State University men’s basketball team rushed out to a 17-2 start, then held off Lindenwood University second-half comeback bid to advancce to the semifinals of the MIAA Postseason Tournament Thursday (Mar. 5) with a 74-55 victory at Municipal Auditorium.
The fifth-seeded Gorillas (18-11) will meet top-seeded Northwest Missouri State University at Noon (CST) Saturday (Mar. 7). The fourth-seeded Lions (17-12) end their season.
Devon Branch scored a team-leading 16 points for Pitt State, which placed four players in double figures. Dakota Jones and Trevor Gregory added 13 points apiece, while Trey Starks chipped in with 11 points. Josiah Gustafson added six points and a team-leading eight rebounds, while Javis Flynn had a game-high five assists.
The Gorillas made 28 of 50 shots from the field, shooting 56.0 percent in the game.
Cory Arentsen had a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds to pace Lindenwood. Chancse Creekmur added 10 points.
