Gorillas fall in double-header to Missouri Western
PSU drops to 21-23 on the year
Pittsburg, KS — The Missouri Western State University softball team swept a doubleheader from Pittsburg State University Saturday (Apr. 13) at Gene Bicknell Sports Complex. The Griffons defeated the Gorillas, 13-3 (6 innings) and 7-2.
Pitt State dropped to 21-24 overall and 9-11 in MIAA action, while Missouri Western State improved to 30-14 overall and 17-5 in MIAA play.
In game one, Pitt State was held to just three hits on the game.
Kala Holder led the Gorillas in game two, going 2-for-3 with two singles. Dru Collins also chipped in with a triple and one run scored.
Pitt State will return to action next week for a doubleheader against Southwest Baptist University. The Gorillas will play on Tuesday (Apr. 16) with a doubleheader against the Bearcats at 2 p.m. at Gene Bicknell Sports Complex.
