TOPEKA, Kan. — The Washburn University women’s basketball team closed out the first quarter on a 19-5 run to overcome a seven-point deficit and the Ichabods held off Pittsburg State University down the stretch for an 82-75 victory Saturday (Feb. 7) at Lee Arena.

Tristan Gegg scored a career high 31 points in the loss for Pitt State (12-9, 8-5 MIAA).Gegg made 10 of 17 shots from the floor in the game, including four 3-pointers. Athena Alvarado added 21 points and seven rebounds. Kaylee DaMitz chipped in with nine points and seven assists.

Washburn (13-9, 7-6 MIAA) got a team-leading 22 points from Hunter Bentley as the Ichaods placed four players in double figures in the contest.
