Pitt State loses 85-84 to Blue Tigers

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Cameron Potts made a pair of free throws with six seconds remaining in the game to lift the Lincoln University men’s basketball team to an 85-84 victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Jan. 18) at Jason Gym.
Pitt State (7-10, 3-5 MIAA) went in front, 84-83, on two free throws by Dejon Waters Jr. with 16 seconds to play in the contest, but the Gorillas couldn’t hold off the Blue Tigers (7-9, 4-3 MIAA) in the waning seconds.
The two teams traded lead changes 14 times in the game’s final 12 minutes of play.
Marcel Cherry scored a game high 25 points to lead the Gorillas. Cherry made eight of 12 shots from the field, including four of six 3-pointers in the contest. Christian Edmondson added 15 points, while Waters (12) and A.J. Walker (11) also finished in double figures.
Joe Davis paced Lincoln with 20 points, while Potts added 12 points and nine rebounds.
