George S. Keeling, 85, a longtime Fairland resident passed away at his home on Sunday, March 8, 2020. He was born on October 13, 1934, in Fairland to Loy S. and Anna (Querry) Keeling. Mr. Keeling was a farmer and rancher for most all of his life in the Fairland area. He married Alma M. Hayes on February 16, 1955, in Fairland, Oklahoma at the First Baptist Churches minister’s house. Mr. and Mrs. Keeling moved to the Kansas City area for a short time, but settled back in Fairland where they farmed and ranched south of Fairland for many years. He worked his cows and horses, but had a special horse named Sally and a special dog named Dog. Each of the grandchildren as they were born was always called by their initials rather than their full name.
Mr. Keeling is preceded in passing by his parents Loy and Anna Keeling and two sisters Elnora Whisner and Earlene Nicolay.
Survivors include his love of sixty-five years Alma Keeling of the home, his Sharon Forrest and her husband Gerald Tahlequah, Sheryl Young and her husband Robert of Vinita, and Stacey Keeling and his wife Evie of Jennings, Oklahoma. His grandchildren also surviving are Todd Forrest and his wife Mahala, Timothy Forrest and his wife Amber, Rebecca Campbell and her husband Cole, Rachel Giles, Corinna Hollie and her husband Jeff and Logan Keeling along with his great grandchildren Laine Forrest, Kylie Forrest, Tehya Forrest, Talyn Forrest, Jaxsun Forrest, Teagan Forrest, Casey Boyd, Autumn Campbell and Anderson Campbell.
Visitation will be 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM, Friday, March 13, 2020 at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland.
Graveside Services will follow at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2020 at Sulphur Bend Cemetery in Fairland with Reverend Andy Krebs officiating. Services are under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Keeling’s name to the First Baptist Church.
