GAME-WINNER: Jackson beats the buzzer to lift Pitt State over NSU
Jayme Jackson hits the game-winner for PSU Thursday night.
PITTSBURG, Kan. – (WATCH) Jayme Jackson hits the game winner for Pitt State Thursday night, lifting PSU over Northeastern State 71-69.
“We were trying to get a post-up on the block with either me or Holmes to try to get a quick shot in the paint,” Jackson says, “They kind of knew what we were going to do and ended up doubling down there. I kind of just popped out and tried to make something happen at the end. It felt really good. I saw my whole team swarming at me, which is probably the best feeling.”
“You love to see your kids make plays,” says PSU head coach Amanda Davied, “Jayme’s play at the end was just a player making a play. She was pretty excited I think. Everybody was really excited for her. Nobody cares who does it at that moment, we just want to win the game.”
Tristan Gegg led PSU with 24 points, including 14 in the 4th quarter. Jackson finished with 11 points, while freshman Karenna Gerber added 10 points and 9 rebounds.
